Using a clever subject on your bulk e-mail marketing, to drive traffic to your affiliate website

One of the hardest things to do in e-mail marketing is to get your
e-mails read. It’s not as easy as just writing your body, and then
sending it out. The goal is to get the receiver to open the e-mail so
you can drive traffic to your affiliate or personal web site. The
subject line must jump out at the reader. You must give them reason
top open it if you are to have a successful marketing campain.

Think about it, how many e-mails do you delete because they don’t
look important. The subject line must draw attention to itself. Most
people are looking for a solution for themselves, or even something
that makes them feel interested. You can draw more traffic to your
affiliate site if you can draw attention with a catchy subject line.
Don’t explain the e-mail in the subject, but the subject should be
related to the e-mail. One thing I started doing is to write down any
e-mail subject phrase that made me want to open it. I received one
recently from a marketer named Josh Cope that read, ‘Your job
sucks’, I didn’t even think twice, I opened it. The subject
immediately made me curious, so I felt impelled to see what the e-mail
was about. I won’t go into that, but the bottom line is, what is it
that will make you want to open an e-mail. Don’t you think that if
you would write a subject line that would make you want to open the
letter, that others would as well? A good marketer knows you don’t
want to blend in with all the other e-mails sitting in the in box. If
you are using HTML settings, it also great to personalize the e-mail
by using the first name in the subject. This is simple to do:
[FIRST_NAME], this will set it up for you providing the receiver has
an account where an actual name is involved in the service. Using
this feature, you will also need to make sure the subject flows, and
doesn’t sound forced. Here’s an example: Hey [FIRST_NAME], you
wouldn’t believe what I found. When the recipient receives the
mail, it will put there name on it, and they will be curious as to
what you found since it seems to involve them. There are a lot of
proven to work phrases out there, I won’t go into that, since it’s
already been done and available. I feel it is best to come up with
something original, I mean people start to recognize a sales e-mail
with many of the over used phases out subject lines. Think about it
this way, if you would not open it because it seems to be a rerun, why
would anyone else open it. Some other things to remember, keep it
short, don’t say to much, or the reader may feel they know what it
is about, and not bother to open the e-mail.

I hope you can see how to get the most out of your e-mail marketing
campaign by using these easy guide lines. Here’s a recap, keep it
short, relevant, original, catchy and personalized. If you can do
this, you will have more visitors to your affiliate web site, and
drive more traffic from a simple email. I will in later write about
how to build an interesting sales letter body for your e-mail, until
then, here’s to your success!
